This is a great set. The color is beautiful and I love the pattern. Fits true to size with the shorts a little longer to cover my old lady thighs.

Looks and fits beautifully.

Really cute swimsuit, fits to size

Beautiful bathing suit. I ordered two suits one my usual size and one, one size larger. This one was one size larger and fits a bit loser but I am happy with the look. Will be taking both on my trip.

Loved the suit & it fit well! Great price.

Swim shorts are swimwear bottoms cut with legs rather than a brief opening, covering the hip and the top of the thigh. You will also see them listed as board shorts when they run longer and firmer, or as swim trunks, though that term usually means the men's version.
The question of what goes underneath comes up constantly, and the answer is usually nothing. Most pairs have a lined brief sewn into the inside, which does the same job as the lining in any swimsuit. Check the product description for the word "lined" or "built-in brief" — if it is absent, the shorts are designed to go over a bikini bottom, which is also a perfectly good way to wear them and gives you two garments in one purchase.
Four names circulate for what is broadly one garment, and they are not interchangeable. Swim shorts is the general term for a women's fitted or mid-thigh cut. Board shorts, or boardies, run longer and stiffer with a flat front, built for a board rather than a pool. Swim trunks almost always returns men's product, so searching that word is the quickest way into the wrong department. And a bikini bottom is a brief, not a leg. Knowing which word returns which cut saves the return postage.
Not well, and it is worth explaining why rather than just saying no.
Cotton and denim absorb several times their own weight in water. Wet, they sag heavily, chafe at every seam, and take hours to dry — which means you spend the afternoon in cold damp fabric. Swim fabric is engineered to do the opposite: it holds almost no water, springs back into shape, and dries in minutes.
There is also a pool hygiene point. Many public pools prohibit non-swim fabric because loose fibres and detergent residue affect filtration, so it is not purely a comfort question. If you like the look of a longer short, a board short in swim fabric gives you the same line and behaves correctly in water.
Two measurements decide how a pair behaves, and neither is the size.
Length runs from a fitted boyshort that sits high on the thigh, through a mid-thigh cut, to a longer board short reaching just above the knee. Fitted styles stay closest to the body and are the better choice if you are actually swimming. Longer, looser cuts read more like regular shorts once you are dry, which is why they suit a beach day better than a pool session.
Rise matters more than most people expect. A high-waisted pair sits at the natural waist, covers the stomach, and stays put when you sit down or climb a ladder. A mid-rise sits at the hip and moves more. If you are pairing shorts with a shorter top, high rise removes the gap entirely.
All three cover a different amount and behave differently in water.
A brief stops at the hip. Shorts cover the upper thigh and stay closest to the body when wet. A skirted bottom covers a similar area but floats slightly and reads more like clothing on the beach. A swim dress combines the skirt with a one-piece base.
Because tops and bottoms sell separately, one pair of shorts carries several tops through a season — solid black or navy pairs with almost any print.
Ladies swim shorts and tops are frequently listed together as a set, and the choice between a set and two separate pieces is a real one. A set guarantees the print and the finish match, which matters most with a pattern that would be near impossible to pair by eye. Buying separately guarantees the fit, which matters more when your top and bottom sizes differ. Where a set comes in a plain color that trade largely disappears — compare the tankini and shorts sets against buying the halves apart.
Three practical things, none about coverage in the modesty sense. They stop chafing, because a wet brief seam sits directly on the inner thigh and rubs while a short leg moves that seam away from the friction point. They make hot surfaces bearable — pool edges, wooden decks, rough concrete — and they protect the swimwear too, since concrete pills swim fabric faster than anything else. And they stay put through movement: climbing a ladder or standing up from a lounger shifts a brief and does nothing to a fitted short.
