Another amazing and flattering one piece purchased! Modlily you have me hooked with your quality items. Cannot WAIT to see what other beautiful designs you come up with!

Very cute! Quality material and runs true to size

This is my second purchase of swimwear from modlily and am as delighted with this swimsuit as the first one. The color and style is represented very well on the picture and the fit is great. The adjustable straps certainly add to the comfort as I am 5 foot 10. I don’t like my bathing suit to be very tight and so the XL accommodated that.

Beautiful fit and excellent after care..

Love the colours of this one!

Start from the part of yourself you would like the suit to change, and the question answers itself. Every feature on a one piece does one job well and the opposite job badly, so a cut that is transformative on one person is merely fabric on another — which is why the phrase has no fixed answer and why every list of flattering one piece bathing suits looks different.
The useful version of the question is narrower: what do you want to be true when you catch sight of yourself walking back from the water? Longer through the middle, held at the bust, covered at the hip, or simply left alone. Each of those has a construction attached to it, and only one of them is a style name.
Four starting points cover most of it.
Support comes before everything else, because a front that collapses undoes whatever the rest of the suit is doing. A firm underband and a shaped cup change the line more than any pattern — our busty styles and underwire cuts are built around exactly that.
Shape can be built rather than filled. A gathered or twisted front, a bandeau with structure, or a push up cut all create a line where padding alone would only add thickness.
This one is a measurement, not a preference, and no other feature compensates for getting it wrong. A long torso cut adds length through the body; adjustable straps take it back.
Gathered fabric reads as texture and a lined panel reads as smooth; both work, and they feel completely different to wear. Our tummy control range covers the firmer end and our ruched styles the softer one.
Brands do not have body types, and a label that suits one person reliably says more about their proportions than about the label. What a brand can have is a house pattern — a torso length it drafts to, a leg opening it favors, a band width it uses across the range. Once one suit from a maker fits you well, the next one probably will too, and that is the whole of the effect people describe as a brand being flattering.
Which means the transferable information is in the measurements rather than the name. A size chart that prints a torso figure, a photograph taken from the back, and a description that names the support construction will tell you more in thirty seconds than a decade of brand loyalty.
Covering more is not automatically the safer choice, and this is where a lot of otherwise careful shopping goes sideways. A higher leg opening lifts the line of the hip and lengthens the leg, so a higher cut leg often reads longer than a straight one, even though it covers less.
The same is true above the waist. A cutout at the waist breaks a wide expanse of fabric into two narrower ones; a plunge draws a vertical where a high scoop draws a horizontal. Showing a little more skin in a chosen place is a shaping tool, and treating it as the opposite of flattering throws away half the options.
The test is whether the exposed area is one you picked. A cutout at the narrowest part of the waist works because it marks something true; the same cutout two inches lower marks something else entirely. Deciding where rather than how much is the whole of the skill, and it separates a suit that does something for you from one that merely covers you up.
