This swimsuit looks a young and not old fashioned like a lot of swim dresses. Comfortable and cover all lumps and bumps

I love this swimsuit! Fits well but runs a little short. But it works. It's beautiful. I will enjoy having this next year at the beach!

This is a u ique swimsuit and stands out. Lots if compliments.

I love this suit!!! I can't wait to wear it!

Fits good

In underwire swimwear a wire sits in a channel under each cup and holds its shape against the weight of the bust. That does two things at once: it lifts from below, and it holds inward at the sides so the bust stays contained rather than spreading. Padding cannot do either — it adds volume in front of the bust without changing where the bust sits.
The practical result is that weight transfers to the ribcage along the band rather than hanging from two shoulder points. That is why a wired top feels lighter on the shoulders than an unwired one supporting the same bust, which sounds backwards until you have worn both.
There are three, and they are worth knowing before you buy rather than after.
It takes longer. The wire channel and the extra layers around the cup hold water after the rest of the suit is dry. If you are putting a suit back on the next morning, this matters — rotating two suits solves it.
Fit is fussier. An unwired top tolerates being slightly wrong. A wire that is too wide digs into the ribcage under the arm; too narrow and it sits on breast tissue instead of around it. The size range that works for you is narrower.
Drying needs care. Wringing a wired top out or drying it on a hanger distorts the wire permanently, and a bent wire cannot be fixed. Press the water out between a towel and dry flat.
None of these outweigh the support at larger cup sizes. At smaller ones, they might.
Roughly, a wire earns its place from a D cup upward, and earlier if you want a defined shape rather than a smooth one. Below that, a well-constructed shelf bra or molded cup does the job with none of the downsides above.
Activity changes the calculation too. For swimming laps, a firm band matters more than a wire, and some people find wires uncomfortable in repetitive movement — see our athletic styles for band-focused support instead. For a full day at the beach where you are mostly upright and dry, a wire is considerably more comfortable than the alternative.
Whatever you choose, the band is what carries the load. If it rides up your back, it is too loose, and going up a whole size makes it worse — tighten the band, then adjust the cup.
These two requirements arrive together constantly, and they pull in different directions: support needs firmness at the band, smoothing needs the fabric below it to skim rather than grip.
What works is a wired cup above a ruched or blouson front — firm exactly where the weight is, loose everywhere else. Look for that pairing in our tummy control range. A one piece spreads the load over a longer panel which many people find more comfortable than a two-piece at larger cup sizes.
For separates, a wired tankini top over a high-waisted bottom handles bust and stomach independently and lets you size each one.
The wire is a cup feature, so it appears across shapes rather than in one.
A one piece spreads the load along the longest panel, the most comfortable option above a D cup. A tankini top gives the same cup and lets you size the bottom separately. A swim dress puts a wired bodice above a skirted panel — the most covered wired option. And at 1X and above, our plus size range keeps the same cup construction rather than a simplified one, worth checking since this is where the wire quietly disappears.
