Fits great and is very patriotic! Word on our cruise while in Alaska and got a lot of compliments.

Yes. Wearing clothing printed with the American flag is legal in the United States. The U.S. Flag Code, a set of guidelines for displaying and caring for the flag, does say that the flag should not be used as wearing apparel. However, the Flag Code is advisory: it carries no penalties and is not enforced against people who wear flag-themed clothing.
It also helps to separate an actual flag from a design inspired by it. A blouse printed with stars and stripes is a garment with a flag motif, not a flag itself, and wearing one is widely seen as a way of showing pride and joining in a celebration.
Many people still like to follow the spirit of the Flag Code by treating flag-print clothing with care: keeping it clean, saving it for celebrations and choosing designs that feel respectful.
The same code also gives guidance on handling actual flags, such as keeping them from touching the ground; those points concern the flag itself rather than printed clothing.
The Fourth of July is the most popular day for flag prints, with picnics, parades, fireworks and barbecues. Memorial Day, at the end of May, and Labor Day, in early September, also bring patriotic outfits to family gatherings as summer begins and ends.
Flag Day, on June 14, and Veterans Day, on November 11, are other occasions when many people wear red, white and blue to show appreciation. Local parades, sporting events and military homecomings are further reasons.
Why are people wearing flag shirts? For most, it is simply a cheerful way to show pride in the country and to share in a community celebration.
Summer family reunions, Independence Day cookouts and town fireworks displays are the classic settings. A flag blouse is also a cheerful choice for a patriotic-themed party or a school event.
A full flag print is only one way to celebrate. A blouse with scattered stars, a red and white stripe or a navy ground with small white stars gives a patriotic feel more quietly, and it is easier to wear beyond the holiday itself.
Color-blocking works too. A white blouse with red trousers and a navy cardigan, or a red blouse with white jeans and navy sandals, makes a clear red, white and blue outfit without any print. Our red blouses, white blouses and navy blouses offer plenty of pieces to combine.
Blue and white stripes with a red accessory, such as a scarf or bag, give a subtle nod to the holiday, and more stripes sit among our striped blouses.
Denim is a natural base, as its blue already brings one of the three colors. A white eyelet or lace blouse with a red belt and dark jeans is a gentle, feminine version.
A flag print is busy and colorful, so solid pieces around it work best. White jeans or shorts keep the look bright and fresh, while denim adds a relaxed, all-American feel. Navy or red bottoms echo the print's colors.
Simple accessories suit the look: white sneakers, sandals, a straw hat and a small bag. For cooler evenings at the fireworks, a white or navy cardigan over the blouse keeps you warm. More warm-weather ideas are collected among our summer blouses.
For a quieter look, a flag blouse under a navy cardigan shows just a hint of the print at the neckline, and a small flag pin can replace a full print altogether.
Care matters too: wash flag prints inside out in cold water to keep the red and blue bright, and dry them away from direct sun.
