What Are 3/4 Sleeve Shirts Called?

A 3/4 sleeve, or three-quarter sleeve, ends partway between the elbow and the wrist, covering about three quarters of the arm. Shops write it in several ways, including 3/4 length, three-quarter length and quarter sleeve, but they all describe the same idea.

A few close relatives are worth knowing. A bracelet sleeve is a slightly longer version that ends just above the wrist bone, so a bangle shows beneath it. An elbow sleeve stops right at the elbow, and a half sleeve ends above it. When a blouse is described as having long 3/4 sleeves, it is usually a bracelet sleeve.

Some blouses also have convertible sleeves, with a button tab that holds a long sleeve rolled up to 3/4 length. They give you two lengths in one blouse, which is handy on days that change from cool to warm.

When Were 3/4 Sleeves Popular?
