I'm FabricLab_07, and I test garments by wearing them in real conditions. I took this navy plant-print tankini to a beach with 25mph wind and waves.
First notice: the double-strap top stays put. No strap slipping off my shoulder when I walked along the water. The blouson-style top has a relaxed hem that literally floats over my belly—there's a gap of air between the fabric and my skin unless I bend forward. That's the hiding effect.
The skirt's side pockets are deep enough for keys, but they don't add bulk; the A-line skirt swings away from the hips. The fabric is 82% polyester, 18% spandex, and I'd call it 'medium-weight'—not sheer, not heavy. It dries quickly but not in 5 minutes; you'll feel damp for a short while. Against skin, the navy background feels cool in the sun, so that's a plus.
What could annoy you: the straps are not adjustable. If you have a shorter or longer torso, you need to rely on the stretch to set the right position. I found the double straps prevent slipping, but they can dig slightly if you have very muscular shoulders. The removable cups are easy to take out, but once removed, the bust area is a little less covered. Keep the pads in unless you're comfortable with more lightweight coverage.
Another caveat: the plant print is printed, not woven, so avoid sitting on wet concrete with chlorine puddles and always rinse after saltwater. The navy base resists stains, but the white flowers need the rinse before sunscreen sets into the fabric.
Fit: I'd call it true to size, but if you're between sizes due to a larger bust, size up for the top to avoid the blouson hem pulling up.
I like that this covers my middle without making me feel like I'm wearing a cover-up. It looked even better on than in the photos.
@jeckton Thanks for sharing! That's exactly the balance I designed for in my edit—coverage that doesn't feel like armor. The dark base does the heavy lifting, and the skirt gives you freedom to move.
